SPOILER ALERT!

This is a tough movie to rate. 'Peacock' stars Cillian Murphy, who portrays both halves of a "split" personality: John (the primary personality) and his "wife," Emma (the alter ego).

There are two strong supporting females as well: Susan Sarandon as Fanny (the wife of a small town mayor who runs a group home for displaced women and children) and Ellen Page as Maggie (the mother of John's child). Neither Maggie nor Fanny talk to one another, however, they each talk to John, both when he's John and when his personality has transitioned into Emma.

By story's end, Emma has effectively "killed" John (both by staging his death in the "real" world and by conquering him internally as well). So, while the actor who portrays John/Emma is a man, ultimately a female personality comes to inhabit John's body.

That said, I think I might be reading a little too much into the rule, which is why I decided to give it a 1/3. But if you consider Emma female for the purposes of the test, 'Peacock' passes.

Devil's Advocate disagreed with the rating and said:
Just registering a formal "disagreement." Since there is the unresolved question of gender, I think this should show up as failing with disagreement, rather than just failing.

Roxann disagreed with the rating and said:
I think Emma counts as a female character, because both she and John see themselves as separate, and she obviously identifies and presents herself as female. When watching the movie, it is very easy to regard them as two distinct persons (I even caught myself forgetting, a couple times, that they shared a body, such is Cillian Murphy's talent).
