Clear pass. Many named female characters including the protagonist Alice, and these characters talk to each other throughout, though often about sex and boys, but often about things besides a man. The omnipresent shadows of a male God and priestly authority make many scenes dubious in and of themselves, but one conversation between Alice and Nina clears all doubt.

Nina: Alice!
Alice: Hey!
Nina: What's up?
Alice: Just finished cleaning.
Nina: We made s'mores after lunch. Saved you one.
Alice: Thanks.
Nina: We pretended each marshmallow was a different mortal sin before burning it. Yours was lust.
Alice: Oh.
