This is a great movie for any age and gender, I watched it with my four year old sister and she loves it almost as much as I do. It goes through the struggles that you may face as a child, It deals with grief and depression, and trying to figure out your place in the world.

I think the movie should pass the test. Fei Fei talks both with Mrs Choung (her step mother) and Chang'e about the passing of her mother, which should quality the movie for passing. (And at the very least the movie certainly passes the second part of the test and not only the first one, as Fei Fei does have quite a bit of dialogue with other female characters).

This film passes! The main character is a girl, she intelligent, interested in science and not interested in men or boys. There's a romantic side story about the moon goddess, but centrally women talk to women and it's not all about men.

This film is wonderful and I don’t admit that he doesn’t pass this test, he passes all the rules, there are more than two women in the film who talk about several things besides men, although the main character’s goal is to take a photo with the Goddess to be able to prevent the marriage of her father and stepmother.

I also disagree. There are many conversations that fit the bill. They talk about the red dates, Chang'e and Fei Fei talk about the gift, and about their sadness. Definite pass.

When Fei Fei first arrives on the moon Chang’e welcomes her and says Fei Fei’s got a rogue eyebrow and “you may now give me the gift”? Clearly not the best example but at the very least it passes the Bechdel test

Fei Fei talks with her mother (and all the female relatives) about food/the Moon festival, as well as Fei Fei and Chang'e talking to each other about grief and moving on after the death of a loved one (Fei Fei's mother).
