Steel Magnolias is adapted by playwright Robert Harling from his all-woman play. Although most scenes to involve them talking about men or boys, a few include no mention at all of males.

They talk to each other about children as well as men, also about relationships with women.

There are plenty of conversations between the female cast of this movie that aren't about men.
Just taking the first one from the IMDB:
Clairee: I've just been to the dedication of the new children's park.
Truvy: Yeah, how did that go?
Clairee: Janice Van Meter got hit with a baseball. It was fabulous.
Truvy: Was she hurt?
Clairee: I doubt it. She got hit in the head.
Just looking at the quotes on the IMDB page, there are conversations between women about other women, about religion, about clothes, about each other... even about a dog! And that's only a dozen or so.

They hardly ever talk about men. Children, other women, Julia Robert's death (OK, the character's death, but she always plays the same character anyway).
If anything, then MEN are there just to move the plot along for the women. I don't think there's a single conversation in the movie between the men.

Someone really needs to change this rating. It obviously passes all of the tests. The death scene alone has nothing to do with a man. Especially the part with Ouiser and Clairee.
