There are two main female characters in this film, the mother and the love interest of the main character. The mother is rarely shown doing anything other than household chores.
There is only one conversation between these two women in the film, but it is about the main character whilst they wash up (even though the love interest is a guest and the men aren't doing anything), which is disappointing as this film was actually directed by a woman.
