There are two women in the cast (who never share any scenes) but [spoilers] both are revealed to be aliens who have taken human form. The film also strongly implies that virtually every other woman on the planet is an alien.
Technically, I suppose that means there are no female characters at all; there are (male) humans and there are the aliens. I guess women really are from Venus.
On the plus side, it's very atmospheric and well acted (humans and aliens alike) and the women are not merely housewives or sex objects (they're hyper-advanced, non-corporeal beings who have come to Earth to prevent "mankind" from developing interstellar travel). Sadly, none of the hyper-advanced non-corporeal beings actually talk to each other.
(The men in the film talk to each other endlessly. Mostly about the women.)
