I love this film and was pleasantly surprised to note that a boxing film from the 1940s about a macho prize fighter still passes the Bechdel test. I don't think a movie with the same subject matter would today.
In the film, Charley's mother Anna and his girlfriend Peg, Anna and the welfare lady, Anna and the femme fatale, Alice, and Peg and Alice, all have scenes where they talk to each other about things other than men. These conversations are generally short ones but are important for the film's themes, its characters and its plot.
