Mel Brooks isnt really a progressive film maker. He's a comedian and he may be the funniest man who ever lived but he definitely was not trying to push society forward. He was trying to make people laugh and thats it. So no, theres not a whole lot of named female characters here, and none of them talk to each other, but Madeline Kahn does some of her best work and thats pretty cool.
