I wouldn't watch this movie in the first place as it was directed by Roman Polanski, a child rapist.

Unfortunately, the entire movie is about Pierce Brosnan's character and what he did or didn't do, so it's intrinsically impossible for anyone to talk about anything else, hence the reason it doesn't pass the third test.

@ Aaron: that's a perfectly fine reason not to *pay* to watch the film, thus rewarding those involved in employing Polanski, but it's no reason not to *watch* the film, which, in spite of not passing the test, is excellent. Borrow it from a friend or a library. ;)

@Aaron And even then, who cares? I payed for it because he deserves the money for making a well made film.

Aside from conversations where we hear only one side I don't think there are any in which the Ewan McGregor character does not play a part. Curiously, that character, the main character, the ghostwriter, has no name.

I can't really agree that the whole movie was about the Pierce Brosnan character. I'd say rather that the whole movie was about the Olivia William's character, the wife, Ruth, and her slipping control over her husband.

I don't really disagree with the rating. It's technically correct. And given Polanski's history I can't complain that it doesn't do justice to the film. But.....
