There are two women (Sophie and Claire), and they talk to each other often, however it is usually about men (finding Lorenzo, or about Victor, or about Charlie). However - there were a couple parts where Sophie talks to Claire about losing her mother when she was a little girl. (Still, this was a plot device to bring her closer to Charlie, who lost HIS parents when he was young too. So it wasn't focusing on Sophie's grief as much as using it to forge a love connection.)

I agree that almost all of the Claire-Sophie interaction was about one man or another. Still, the hair-brushing scene was mainly about Sophie's grief over her mother and Claire seeking to console her. This seemed separate from Sophie's relationship to Charlie. So to me, the movie passes the Bechdel Test (but just barely).

This movie blow. The entire flick is all about how a woman has to find a man to be happy and fulfilled. I love Vanessa Redgrave, but damn...it's not the 1950's anymore. I hope.

Just because you don't like the movie or think it has anti-feminist leanings, that doesn't make the test results invalid. I don't like the movie either, but it does pass the test.

There was a whole group of women, and although they were discussing Juliet's letter's, I don't remember specific men being discussed the whole time. I haven't seen the movie since in came out, but I feel like the group who responded to the letter's should definitely count

Even though I want to count the society of "Juliet's secretaries" as full characters, it's going to be difficult to say their conversation with Sophie passes the test without question. Yes, they talk to her about writing letters...of advice, to women (and men) with romantic problems. That's the entire purpose of the group's existence, so it's hard to take the "guy" part out of the equation.

That said, I still think Sophie's conversation with Claire about the loss of her parents passes the test. And, for those who argue that the movie is still misogynistic, I'd like to point out that Sophie doesn't break up with her boyfriend for the sole purpose of pursuing a different man. She breaks up with him because she feels their relationship isn't working anymore, and she's unhappy with what it has become. That's perfectly reasonable.
