Three main female characters (Marion Loxley, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Isabella of Angoulême), two of which talk to each other. Although their conversation centers on a man, it's not limited to that. All in all, not bad for a 12th century period piece.

Agree. I think Robin Hood just barely passes. Despite the general lack of female presence, the ass-kicking Marion Loxley made it up in the end (for me).

While Eleanor and Isabella did talk to each other (briefly), they talked about who would talk to John, so in my eyes, that counts as talking about a man.

I also tend to disagree. Just cause it has a kick-ass woman in it, doesn't mean it should skate by. The test is pretty clear.

Also - Marion nearly being raped in the barn totally lost whatever cred this film might have had for me. Probably my least favorite Ridley Scott film of all time. :(

Yeah, it's around 1:21.
It's not just a conversation about 'a man', but rather a bunch of different men: John, Phillip, and Marshall. That, and a bit about what it means to be queen. It's a substantive conversation, about some pretty weighty political matters. A clear pass. (And whether Marion kicks ass or not is irrelevant.)
