The film has several female characters, notably Simon's friends Leah and Abby, his mother Emily and his sister Nora. All their onscreen interactions are with male characters, and despite Leah and Abby being in the same friend group, all their interactions are mediated through Simon and/or Nick.

There are many named female characters who are fully rounded and help to drive the plot. I was surprised, looking back on the film itself, I was surprised at the lack of direct dialogue between the female characters.

One instance I did find where it briefly happens is about ten minutes in when the Spiers are discussing what they should watch on TV. Nora and Emily directly discuss why "The Affair" may be a poor choice.

Moost of the female interactions are through the male characters. However, when Simon comes home drunk with Leah, she thanks his parents for letting her stay and Emily says Leah doesn't have to thank them. I know it's very brief, but I think that counts.

Leah and Simon’s mother Emily talk for a moment where she thanks her for letting her stay the night, and Emily responds. It’s short, but it technically passes.

the movie is based of a book, simon vs the homo sapiens agenda, which is in first person from the view of simon (a boy) who wouldn't ever see two girls interacting about something that's not a boy. he's also quite obvious so he wouldn't notice it if it did happen...

I think that scrutinizing this movie through the Bechdel test is largely redundant. The film focuses on a personal dilemma directly associated with his gender and sexuality. Movies with broader themes make sense going through the bechdel test, but any movie exploring sexuality and gender, such as Boys Don't Cry or Blue Is the Warmest Color, is irrelevant to the test.

Leah and Emily talk after the halloween party about staying over. Nora (Simon's sister) and Emily have a few conversations about television and her cooking. Ms. Albright and Taylor converse during play practice about how bad the play is as well. So plenty of conversations between female characters and not about males.

Nora and Emily converse about which movie the family should watch.

Leah and Emily also briefly converse about her being welcome to stay the night at their house. The film objectively passes the second criteria, and in my opinion also passes the whole test.

as others have said, the rating is incorrect. Nora and Emily discuss what movie to watch AND Leah and Emily converse about Leah staying over for the night. It should be 2/3.
