Although there are occasions that a woman (namely Meryl Streep's character) speaks to other women, it is mostly conversations with her daughter in private. All other female characters orbit each other, very close to conversation but given no dialogue.
But I suppose that is the point of the film, the fact I am able to make such an observation is exactly the point the film is trying to portray.
