There are three named characters in the entire movie; Nina, Lupe, and Una. Una and Lupe have an exchange where the hedgehogs are trying to steal items from Lupe. This is the only time any female characters talk to each other at all. Although this movie passes I believe it could have had more female characters. I understand the importance of having all male bulls, but there could have been more female characters. Maybe even a female matador! I loved this movie but wish women were more represented.

Although this movie passes the test, I would not recommend it. It is yet again proof that this is not a test of feminism but of representation in the industry. Not only is much of its voice acting awful and lifeless, it is also terrible in terms of representation of women.

Nina’s personality is... little girl.
Una is... the girl hedgehog.
There is a female horse whose personality is the same as that of the other horses; they are stuck up german horses. One does not know why they are german, especially considering the fact that the movie is supposedly set in Spain.

Admittedly, Lupe the goat is probably one of the only decent characters with good voice acting in the movie. A big personality, she gets a pass.

Another female (background character) I noticed loses her baby, and is the only human with decent voice acting. Her role is... mother.

I will also give that many of the male characters also had no personality. The male bulls definitely got the most screen time though. Although it is said to be in Spain, it is incredibly inconsistent. Some characters have Spanish accents, others do not, others speak Spanish, and others are merely stereotypes of other countries.

Perhaps it is not as bad as Surf’s Up 2, but please, do not watch this movie. Coco, for example, is a much better movie where people consistently speak Spanish (although it is in Mexico).

Although there aren’t many female character, this movie to me is about toxic masculinity, so it’s definitely good in terms of gender equality
