Yu'er and Xiaoying (Rain and Luli in the netflix dub) talk to each other many times throughout the movie, and plenty of them do not involve a man. One example is when Yu'er laments how she doesn't enjoy her new life running a humble restaurant and misses her old home but Xiaoying tells her that the restaurant has been passed down for many generations by their ancestors (all of which were women by the way).
