Mary (Betty Davis) works in a gangster run night club with Emmy Lou, Estelle, Gabby and other roommates. They try to resist their new boss, who forces them into prostitution. Mary brags 'I know all the angles & how to work them too'. She tells the boss, 'I'll get you even if I have to crawl back from my grave to do it'. Mary's innocent sister Betty shows up and brags 'if I can't live one way, I can live another. Why not? I'm young and pretty and...' 'And dumb!' Mary snaps. 'But you're smart. You'll teach me the rest' Betty insists, a deadly mistake. Surprisingly timely drama about sexual pressures from the bosses, and smart women ganging up, trying to resist.
