Bechdel Test Movie List

Although this movie is horribly cliche (the focus story is that Susan Bradley, played by Judy Garland, travels to a frontier town to meet the man whom she has agreed in a letter to marry; and the theme is the happy civilizing influence of "nice girls"), there are several conversations between women about things other than a man. In the train scene at the beginning of the movie, they discuss a recipe, for example. And in the end, the movie is about "nice girls" who travel for adventure and employment, which is a bold thing for a woman to do both when the movie was made and in the era in which it is set.
