Two women (both un-named nurses) who have brief lines of dialogue.

The movie really doesn't have any women in it at all (save for perhaps a nurse who is briefly seen on-board a destroyer), but I feel that this is a rare example in which it would have been difficult to include fully engaged female characters considering the movie's conviction to the realities of its historical setting.

I agree with J due to the fact that this movie was completely historically accurate it would have been nearly impossible to fit female characters in, let alone name them and have them converse.

This movie have no heroes, no enemy, no lineal timeline, no characters, barely names.
This movie is more a historical documentary than a movie.
Rating this movie is like rating a documentary about war in middle age.

I have not had the opportunity to see this movie. We have watched many of the historically accurate WW 2 movies. Women played active roles and very often times we see little or know representation at all of women during this time period. I have had the honor of knowing several veterans that served in France during this time. Their stories go untold.

You can tell AS is telling the truth when he says he's never seen Dunkirk. The film takes place exclusively at Dunkirk and at sea also. At the time, the only women that would have been there were the nurses which the movie includes. And considering the movie is more concerned with the event than characters anyway, it becomes basically impossible for the movie to pass the bechdel test without the historical accuracy being ruined and without it feeling shoehorned.

this exchange shows clearly how deranged all of this is. You debate openly if a change of historical reality is acceptable or not for a purpose of genially based propaganda. you are sick. what about robinson crusoe>? any meaningfull female character apart form the goat?

I just want to add that this movie barely has any dialogue at all, and one of the main characters is not named and is only called "shivering soldier", so it's more about the general style of narration rather than a sexist problem, in my opinion.

It's essentially impossible for the movie to pass the test as very few of the characters at all are named - there is very little dialogue. This is one of the movies that I can earnestly say doesn't need to pass the Bechdel test and I don't mind that at all.
