Leave it to Shirley MacLaine to head the cast of a film whose three named female lead characters--Harriet, Anne, and Brenda (an old woman, young woman, and child, respectively) never talk about a man at all at any point in the film and stand on equal footing. They talk about only themselves, their worlds, their ideas, and they support each other without being 'nice.' So fresh, so good!
