French Animation. Watched it with my 5 year-old daughter who liked it. The main character, a teenager named Sasha, spends the majority of the movie as the solo female on a ship headed for the north pole. However, the early parts of the movie develop her character as she works in a tavern and is advised by Olga on how to achieve getting to her destination.

As Ladyblahblah mentioned, Sasha spends time in a tavern and speaks to Olga about reaching her destination and about learning to work. She also has some conversations with her mother and a female friend; some of the conversations are about her explorer grandfather, but others are about expeditions more generally and other topics like how Sasha should act in society.
