Bechdel Test Movie List

The only case I can think of is when Toni Collette talks to the other kid's mom at the birthday party about her son (a male), or when Olivia Howard is selling the ring at her jewelry shop to a couple (so she's not really having a tete-a-tete with the woman). Dubious!

On the video the father watches at the girl's funeral, she asks her mother if she can go outside after lunch and her mother tells her she can't because she always feels sick after lunch because the mother is poisoning her.

I think the Bechdel test lumps boys in with men. They need to talk about something other than male characters.

Seeing as the child and mother are both classic female stereotypes (the helpless victim and the evil witch), using the poisoning scene to pass the test says little about feminism.

Ally has it right -- it scrapes through the test -- not dubious.

And Matthew: individual cases of passing or failing the test are not meant to say anything about "feminism". The overall balnace of all of the films might say something about the portrayal of women, though.

Are the women named? It sounds like not.

The girl's full name is Kyra Collins, but she's only mentioned as Kyra in the film. Both the father and the mother are therefore "named" Mr. and Mrs. Collins in the script and the credits, but never named as such on screen. By that, the interactions between "Mrs. Collings" and Kyra wouldn't count.
