Mary Poppins has a few female characters, such as Jane, Mrs. Banks, Katie Nanna, the Cook, Ellen, and of course the title character. Katie Nanna demands Mrs. Banks to compute her wages. Jane and Mary Poppins address each other several times. (It's interesting to note that although Mrs. Banks and Mary Poppins appear on screen together, they never talk to each other.)

Mrs. Banks,Ellen,and Cook also sing a song together about Women's Suffrage. I believe Mary Poppins and Jane have a conversation or two as well. About half of the main characters are female. Mary Poppins,the lead role is a strong and independant woman. She and Bert have a romantic scene but he is more often portrayed as the clown while she rolls her eyes.
