Bechdel Test Movie List

There are a few female characters in this movie, including a dog named Gidget, a cat named Chloe, and a human named Katie. However, the only dialogue between female characters is between Chloe and Gidget, and it is focused on a male dog named Max.

There are 4 female speaking parts all of which all fawn over male characters (Max the dog or the make dog walker). Such a disappointingly dark film and so many missed opportunities - to teach about adoption, taking proper care of animals, and that hitting and torture (seriously, there's a torture scene) aren't ok.

I think in some cases, the test should not apply. I mean, are you really evaluating a movie about ANIMALS with a test about female characters, feminism and the interactión of two people?... Let me explain my point of view: There are two dogs (females or not, they're still dogs); the dogs usually do things based on her instinct, so, if you imagine a dog talking like a human, i don't think they care about the same things that a human do, so, if the female dog is talking about other male dog... is really an affront to the feminism or women in the world if a female DOG is doing this?. I think it makes the Bechdel Test seems like a joke. But, it's just MY opinion.

I was rather disappointed with the lack of female characters in the movie. The dog Gidget and cat Chloe were female, but even after searching through the character list I could not find a female secondary character that was a pet. And both Gidget and Chloe were romantic interests for other dogs. The entire reason Gidget was even helping to find Max was because she was attracted to him. There was so much opportunity here to have more female characters, and it is such a disappointment the movie went the way it did.
