Ann Hui directs this drama about one of China's best woman novelists, Xiao Hong, her love affairs, and her tragically ended young life during the Second World War. Famous woman novelist Ding Ling also appears. Frustratingly, conversation centers on the love affair with the male novelist. Almost 3 hrs long, gorgeous to look at.
