Bechdel Test Movie List

This movie has many female characters in this such as Lucy van Pelt, Sally Brown, Violet Gray, Marcie, Patty, Freida, Fifi, Peppermint Patty, and The Little Red Haired Girl (named Heather Wold in a freeze frame moment in the film) however the only conversions I saw in the film were between Marcie and Peppermint Patty either on Patty standing on Marcie's head or Patty sleeping in class. Also there is a conversion with Lucy, Violet, Patty and The Little Red Haired Girl but we don't hear what they are talking about since it's in the background.

Also, there's a scene with Peppermint Patty and Marcie, in which they discuss which book they should review for a school homework. (The same review Charlie brown has to write)

Definitely passes with the conversation about the book report, but barely.

I found it interesting to note though that this almost failed the reverse Bechdel as well! There wasn't a great load of dialogue between characters really, just a lot of situational one-liners and exclamations.

There were a few conversations between Charlie Brown and Linus, but mostly about the Red Haired Girl. They did speak about Charlie Brown's bad luck and self-esteem once though I think. So unless I missed a whole lot from dozing off, it was pretty balanced.

I really didn't enjoy this movie very much because of the main plot line of Charlie Brown being in love with a girl he had never even heard speak or even know the name of, but it gets credit for having a good balance of male and female characters all with varying traits that aren't all gender normative.

Also to my recent discovery the freeze frame moment I mentioned that revealed the name of The Little Red Haired Girl(Heather Wold) also revealed the surnames of all the girls so to any qualms about them not being fully named can be put to rest. We got the obvious of Lucy Van Pelt, Violet Gray and Sally Brown but then we also got Freida Rich, Patty Swanson, Marcie Carlin and Patricia Reichardt. Also there is a brief moment where Violet kinda talks to Patty after she has been assigned the book report with her albeit while " playing air patty cake"
