There are a number of conversations between female characters. At the very opening of the movie the lead character (Effie) talks to her younger sister Sophie about he upcoming marriage (yes, a man is involved) but also about her move to London and their desire to maintain their relationship. Effie also talks to Ruskin's mother Margaret. Some of this conversation is about Ruskin, but they also talk about roses. Effie also talks to Lady Eastlake about art. As the movie centres on Effie and her experience there are more such conversations.
