Actually, hardly any men in this film at all, and the ones that do appear are only seen briefly (mother's boyfriend, math teacher, nurse, catcallers on the street, man in her fantasies). Female characters include Precious, her mother, her teacher, two social workers, her grandmother, her classmates, her neighbor's daughter.
