Ann Brandon and Lady Conyngham have two conversations. In the second, no men are mentioned, and Lady Conyngham is sympathetic to Ann, and urges her to get some sleep. The sympathy is partly due to her brother being murdered (this is not mentioned), but she is clearly on edge as her own life is in danger (Lady Conyngham does not realise that). The earlier conversation is on similar lines, but men are mentioned.
