The two main characters are interesting women who talk about a lot of different things together. There is a third female character that does not play much of a role, though.

This movie is great! I hate horror movies where the women just run around and scream, and are fodder for the male dominated action.
Imagine a combination of Hot Fuzz & Shaun of the Dead. Make the main character a combo of Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, then turn the character into a woman. Drop the whole thing into New Zealand. That's Housebound!
Kylie, main character, is a mild criminal and a total a-hole forced to live in a potentially haunted house with her mom. Her probation officer is an amateur ghost hunger. There are genuinely scary moments, interlaced with lots of humor.
The 2 main female characters are well written, fleshed out, and interesting. No romance!
I love this movie. Watch it!
