The lead protagonist is a teenage girl and most conversations revolve around her or the mysterious Roxy Carmichael who is returning to town. There are several women characters. The lead and her guidance counselor (another woman) have lots of talks about the girl's life. Only once do they both mention their love interests--but the conversation is quickly dismissed as neither want to really talk about the guys.
