This movie has a number of named female characters. Lizzie is the lead (well, she may share the lead with her son, Frankie), her mother Nell and her friend Marie are the most prominent. The three of them talk to each other a lot. And several of the conversations don't deal with a man (though some do). Lizzie and Marie talk about mundane things and life in general. Lizzie and Marie have conversations about buying cigarettes, and Marie offers Lizzie a part time job, and they talk about work. So this movie passes the Test with flying colors.
