Main character Jennifer talks quite a bit to her grandmother Mary Ellen about plot related topics like the house, the family deaths and the curse on the family. Jennifer also talks/interacts with her Aunt Emma (who is sick/in shock) and to the maid Helen (but there is a language barrier between them)
