Several conversations amongst several named female characters about family relations and roller derby in general.

This film gave me hope. While it's not a "perfect" feminist film, it is remarkable for how many scenes it contains in which women work together, talk together, and interact without men and romance being at the center of the interactions. I literally feel like I've never seen a film like it before. Isn't that a shame? But thanks to Drew Barrymore, the writer, and the cast!

This movie not only passes the test, it hip checks it and leaves it broken on the guard rail.

HMS, I so love your comment. But this is the easiest pass of all. Granted, the female characters are using "derby names", but they're still names, and they talk about anything and everything.

its nice to see so many different types of interactions between women that are not about men (mother/daughter, friends, team mates, enemies, random strangers). i think because its such a sports based film it helpd.

It definitely passes the test with flying colors. The movie and characters are wonderful, for the most part. Jimmy Fallon is disgusting as always, and at one point a character uses a transmisogynist slur when referring to the roller derby team the main character is on. The movie could definitely do without that.
