Sophie and her grandmother have an actual conversation in the end. It is about her giving her up to Saunier. I don't think that is really about a man.

The grandmother doesn't count as a named character. While book readers will recognize her as Marie Chauvel, she doesn't say this in the movie and is listed only as "Elegant Woman at Rosslyn" in the film's credits.
