I don't have access to this film atm, but I want to recommend it ONLY if it PASSES the Bechdel test. I seem to recall a few mother daughter (both named) scenes that pass. Also I think there's a scene between two sisters towards the end that qualifies. My memory is foggy to say the least. Can anyone please confirm or dispute?

Jonathan is totally correct. Although some of the conversations between Claudia Larson (Holly Hunter) and her mother Adele (Anne Bancroft) are about a high school male friend that Adele thinks could be a love interest for Claudia, they also discuss Claudia's daughter and the fact she just lost her job, There's also an intense scene at the end between Claudia and her sister Joanne (the amazing Cynthia Stevenson) that is about their own dysfunctional relationship as sister.

Claudia also talks with her daughter (Kitt) about visiting the family/Thanksgiving. Kitt reminds her mother to think of floating with fish to calm herself, an experience they had snorkeling together.
