Ila talks to her neighbour Mrs Deshpande, her daughter Yashvi and her mother on several occasions, and even though all the conversations soon turn to a male character, they do talk about recipes, music, or Ila's own childhood. Lunchbox passes.

As stated by the previous poster: everything soon turns to a man.

1. They talk about food... that she cooks for a man.

2. They talk about music... which was in relation to a letter the man sent her

3. Every single conversation in the movie can be related to a man..

I don't really think this is a clear pass.

All the female leads conversations are about men, this movies only passes 2/3 of the test.

Ila talks with her daughter (Yashvi) about a game she used to play when she was young. However, Yashvi is a girl, not a woman, and doesn't say much in return.

Ila talks with her mother about money and her mother's hunger, but Ila's father is a huge presence in both of these conversations. More importantly, I do not recall a name for Ila's mother and she doesn't have one on IMDB.

Ila's neighbor (whom she calls "Auntie," although they do not seem to be related) talks--always off screen, we never see her--to Ila about food and music.

I think the movie passes all three but there are good arguments to be made that it's dubious. Auntie is off screen, the mother doesn't have a name, and the daughter doesn't really say much in return in addition to being a child.
