Gloria Gaines talks with Gina about food/cooking.

I watched this movie last night with this test in mind, and it's a narrow pass. There's a three sentence back-and-forth early in the film between Gloria and Gina about potato salad. Gloria added dill, which she'd read in a magazine, and Gina thought it was good. The same two women have one other exchange later about Lewis and his father, which wouldn't pass the test, and that's all the conversation between women in the whole film.

I stand by my rating. A narrow pass is still a pass. The rules do not say that the women have to talk to each other about something significant or meaningful. Just that they talk about something other than a man.

I can't argue with the logic behind 3/3, but it's cases like this where I start to think the test really doesn't deserve the hype. I just watched the movie and I was certain that it had failed test #3. The conversation about dill is so inconsequential, it didn't even register in my memory. I mean, come on. Dill. If this were Julie & Julia that might advance the plot at least, but not here.
