The two women are the central character, Imogene, and her mother Zelda. Although they do talk about Imogene's father and Zelda's new boyfriend, the central story is about Imogene learning to love and accept her family, particularly her crazy mother.

I think that Imogene and Zelda talked about many things, not only about men. They talked about their past, the mother's irresponsible behaviour, their feelings and emotions. They talk a lot, and many times it's all mixed, but they are given full personalities, desires and lives.
