Sophina (Melonie Diaz) and Tatiana (Ariana Neal) talk briefly and Sophina, Wanda (Octavia Spencer), and Grandma Bonnie (Marjorie Shears) talk about crabs, though both quickly become about Oscar, who is in almost every scene until the incident occurs, then whenever people talk, it is about him.

I would give it a 2/3... They talk for like 30 seconds before the conversation turns to oscar. the crab bit is a small part of the same conversation, so technically that conversation still counts as "talking about a man" even though they don't only talk about Oscar.

Katie talks to Grandma over Oscars mobile phone in the grocery store how to prepare seafood for dinner.

I've said this before, but the test does not require that an entire conversation be worthy of passing the test. It merely requires that two characters talk to each other. Even a two-line exchange that does not relate to men would qualify (albeit by a slim margin).

It is also worthy mentioning that despite the movie being about Oscar he is actually for most of the movie surrounded by women. There is his daughter and her mama, his mother and grandmother. All being important to the story and actually they are much more prominent than his friends or brother.
