In WWII, a London woman (Lily) marries a Canadian (Charlie) fighting in the war. She has his child and is sent to Canada to live with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law on their rural land, which is not what Lily expected. These women talk about daily life and customs. Lily has difficulties adjusting and getting along with the two women. There are dancing lessons and driving lessons between them. They discuss physical injuries and limitations. A friend and fellow war bride from London visits a few times from her new Canadian home in Montreal.
Although there are many conversations about things other than a man, Charlie is the reason Lily is living with these two women, and his relationship with them all is frequently felt even in his absence. I debated checking the "it's dubious" button.
