Although Kat gives feminism a lot of lip, this movie is still pretty sexist, in a lot of places.

Enjoyable film, especially as an adaptation of the taming of the shrew. Hasa few clear passing scenes in it. Bianca and Kat battle each other verbally a few times.
Also, Kat has to go to the headmistress and explain why she terrorized the class. I'm not sure about that scene because it leads back to a male teacher's class and an earlier incident between Kat and a male. Furthermore, the scene where Kat and Ms. Perky (the name, THE NAME) discuss the wording of her novel should pass - it's about literary expertise of how you name a penis. Yes, a penis, probably attached to a male (Reginald), however, it's not directly about males but about the right vocabulary.

Mandella and Kat, unfortunately, seem to talk mainly about guys. (Please prove me wrong.. I would LOVE to be proven wrong. :))

Kat and Bianca talk about their mother and the necklace that she left behind when she left.

Bianca and Chastity talk about vocabulary (ha!) and the differences between like and love as it relates to fashion. :)

- Kat and Mandela talk about attending prom. Mandela concedes she won't go because she doesn't have a dress, but Kat thinks they shouldn't go because they're "making a statement".
- Bianca tries to convince Kat to attend Bogey's party, asking her to do it for the sake of their sisterly bond.

Funny that Kat is the quasi-feminist heroine of the piece but most of the non male-centric conversations happen between boy-crazy Bianca and Chastity.

While there are several conversations about things other than men, the underlying tones during the conversations suggest that they are anticipating what men think and how they will be stereotyped or judged by them. Furthermore, the quick convos the females have that do not reference men are not meaningful, such as Chastity and Bianca's discussion of vocabulary, which is clearly mocking the wisdom of them both to show they are shallow and unconcerned with anything other than using their beauty to attract men.

It's a romantic comedy, people. Barely any romantic comedy passes the Bechdel Test or the reverse Bechdel for obvious reasons. But Kat and Mandella do have conversations about other things other than men, and Kat and Bianca fight a couple times about the house rules.
