Bechdel Test Movie List

I was actually surprised that this movie passed the test so quickly, since I felt the women weren't as heavily focused as the men, BUT, the test is very clear. Two women or more, talking to each other, not about a man.

At the beginning of the movie, Ria gets into an argument with Kim Lee, and they trade racial barbs at each other.

And there are also two scenes where Jean talks to Maria about something besides a man. In the first one they talk about the dishes, and the second one Jean tells Maria that she is her best friend.

Not a stellar example of a passing score. No female-female relations are developed at all. Maria is treated exclusively as a servant who doesn't speak or have feelings.

An example of how a film can pass on a technicality. The woman-woman conversations are almost exclusively domestic, and, in fact, the entire film focuses on male experiences...it's racially and ethnically multifaceted, but to a one, every female character largely functions in terms of her relation to the men -- up to and including viewing a sexual assault as primarily an act humiliation for the survivor's husband!
