This TV movie has several named female characters--Tracey Gold as Katelynn, her daughter Annabelle, the tour guide daughter Petra, and the tourist Tina.

At the very least, Petra and Tina talk, with Petra telling Tina that they will be okay against the threat of the monster spiders, and Tina screams that they won't and continues sobbing and screaming.

There is a group of baseball players / cheerleaders who do not do anything apart cyring and screaming. Katelynn (Tracy Gold) is a biology teacher who has asthma and speaks about her condition. She is also the main character who disects one of the spiders and tries to use science to fight them. Tina (Tiara Gathright) is helpful and ecologically minded, and Petra(Olivia Hardt) is the responsible daughter to be saved by her irresponsible and heroic brother. Then there is another female character that almost has everybody killed when she panics. None of these characters speak to each other. They are always within a group and speak about an strategy, the spiders and findings about them, etc...But they do not have any meaningful communication between them.
