Rose and her mother have a couple of conversations that don't involve men, and Rose's mother and her snotty friends make snotty comments about Molly Brown. However, conversations between two women are scarce in the film.

Anyone ever notice how, whenever DiCaprio was on set, the story suddenly switched to his point-of-view, even though his character was not telling the story? The only one I remember in which she retains full focus is when she attempted to commit suicide.

I'll admit, I only saw this film once and it was over a decade ago, but the lasting impression was that the story primarily focused on him rather than her.

To Renee, I would disagree. Jack and Rose in the water, Rose trying to rescue Jack, all pretty long scenes and all told from Rose's point of view.

Titanic is a a movie about Rose's journey into becoming who she wants to be, and deciding to take control of her life and not marrying a man she doesn't love and being miserable and not being herself. IF BY ANY MEANS you think Titanic is a "man's movie" you should see this deleted scene: youtube.com/watch?v=MS5bXrbEcgY

Ana Ivanovna: It's not a good idea to try to prove your point with a scene that didn't make it into the finished product.

Lunza: Just because the scene didn't make it into the movie doesn't disqualify as showing the message the movie was trying to make.
