The female characters only speak to the two male protagonists and one never speaks at all. The exists only to motivate action from the male protagonists.

I've changed the score to 2 of 3 (was 1 of 3) because Blair and Serena talk to each other about Marcus Wright (about 1 hour into the movie).

Suggest adding (dubious), as the Blair/Kate discussion is only about a man to *one* of the women. To the other, it's about a hunk of hardware.

This is kind of a defining plot point.

A machine is only male inasmuch as it identifies **and is accepted** as such. If Marcus were not accepted by Blair or anybody else as being human enough to have a gender, it would not have ended up occupying a monument of indeterminsate gender.

In any case, the movie passes at least 2 tests at any given point of argument. Until the police arrive, and it becomes as clusterfuck of "Oh, God. Everything about this was a bad idea."

I think this passes 3/3 - maybe dubious. I agree with Sam - if no one thinks of Marcus Wright as a human, but rather as a machine, then "he" [it] cannot be male. Blair and Kate have more than one conversation about Marcus too. Essentially, we can anthropomorphize nonhuman entities using things like gender all we want(i.e. dogs=male, cats=female), but that doesn't make it true.
