Bechdel Test Movie List

Fio and Gina are the two prominent named female characters don't talk onscreen (but the epilogue says they become friends). Fio talks to an old lady but I don't know if she's named. Pointing out that this should not negated the female character's importance/personality or presence though. Gina and Fio both have interesting personalities, Fio builds the plane and there are many women who help put it together.

Tru, Fio and Gina do not speak to each other. But, to defend Miyazaki, his films pass the test in general. Porco Rosso is an exception.

The movie passes the test. When the women who will repair the plane arrive, they are talking. I haven't seen the original version or the english one, but in Italian you can hear something about a party. Later, the grandpa will say the name of everyone, so we know their names, they talk to each other and not about a man

Granny talks to Fio before she leaves about not having to bring back a souvenir. Both named characters. Not about a man. Therefore it passes the test. Worth mentioning that this movie goes well beyond that in portraying fleshed out female characters regardless.

I agree that it doesn't pass the test. However I consider Fio to be one of the strongest female characters in a movie EVER!

After I reading these objections, I have to double check this film. I had thought it was the only Gibli film I've seen that failed.
