Schmidt's Mom and their neighbor (Annie Schmidt and Phyllis) have a brief exchange about Schmidt returning to his parents' house for his undercover assignment.

As the exchange was about Schmidt, who is a man, this does not pass test 3. I do not believe it passes test 2 either as they did not have any kind of a real conversation. Phyllis asks where he is and the mother responds that he's upstairs and shuts the door. 1/3 on the Bechdel.

Joseg, it doesn't say they have to have a conversation. They just need to talk to each other. Which they DO. this is not opinion. This is fact. It passes 2.

Clearly the named example is of them talking about a man. How does this possibly get listed as passing all three tests?

This movie doesn't pass the test....... Gregsaw, you are saying the mother and the neighbour have a conversation but it is about Schmidt, the mothers son. In my opinion in order to pass this test, the movie must pass all 3 questions!

I have seen the movie. It gets a 2/3. The rating is wrong. It's been 7 months since the wrong rating was posted. Why can't we fix this?!? It's bad enough to feel that we need to build a new site to get these things right.

This actually passes the test. Mercedes (the dealer) and Maya (captain's daughter) have a brief conversation when Mercedes is kidnapping the captain. The conversation is about Maya wearing Mercedes's bathing suit and a joke about how it was rude not to ask.

Minimal, but it passes the test. (I started watching for it when I realized how pathetically few women were in the film.)

I was forced to watch the movie. Agree that it passes 2 of 3 going by mere technicality, but practically there is no meaningful portrayal of women at all in the entire movie. Very pathetic. Overall result: it fails the test anyway.

Meg: I think you're referring to the sequel, _22 Jump Street_. I don't think the scene you're referring to happens in _21 Jump Street_.
