and (still me, mat) Antonietta also (in the same scene) tells Maria Luisa to hurry up and that she'll miss the parade if she doesn't. In both cases she calls her daughters by their names before speaking to them.

You're right willow that in the two cases I mentioned the child doesn't answer, I hadn't allowed for that. However, the film passes by a hair's breadth on an exchange between Antonietta and Maria Luisa at 14'45:

A: Vai all'adunata o a una festa da ballo?
ML: Che vuoi?

(That's the Italian subtitles anyway - they actually speak in Roman dialect). In English "Are you going to the parade or to a dance?" - "What's your problem?"
