Mary Marshall (Ginger Rogers), Mary's aunt, Sarah (Spring Byington), and Mary's cousin, Barbara (Shirley Temple), have some conversations and exchanges in the movie that aren't about a man.

Some of the exchanges and conversations that aren't about men are about misunderstandings or misconceptions about prisoners, and lessons learned about unintentionally hurting people; others are about how to live your life when it didn't go as you expected it to, and the struggle of adjusting to life and to feeling as if you belong in the world when you've been in prison. Others are bits of advice that might indirectly affect relationships with men, but not so much about a man specifically.
