Bechdel Test Movie List

Without including a plot spoiler for this film, suffice to say there are only two female actors who are credited. One is Miranda Richardson as the villain Jude; the other plays a minor character who does not talk to Jude. At first glance of a trailer, this might appear to clear the second hurdle, but it does not.

Trans women *are* women, and this should be taken into account for any and all Bechdel ratings. This is a simple matter of respect.

Agreed. Dil is trans and she speaks with Jude, though it seems like it might be about Jimmy. This movie at LEAST passes the second rule.

Dil is most certainly a female character so this does pass at least 2 qualifications. I can't remember if they talk about anything other than a man.

I've updated the rating from 1/3 to 2/3.

First of all, Dil definitely counts as a female character. Despite having a penis, she identifies as a female and other characters always use female pronouns in reference to her.

Second, Dil and Jude talk about "young love" and Dil's make-up. The "young love" part is a subtle reference to Dil's relationship with Fergus/Jimmy, but he isn't explicitly stated. This is one of those multi-layered conversations that could be construed as being ultimately only about Fergus, but I think it still passes.
